Anything that may delay you might just save you

Weird, gloomy, uplifting, darkly funny, West Bentley (hehe), dreamy. It kind of changed my view of life. I don't know if I'm more realistic or just pessimistic like the other half of the world.

This movie got quite mixed reviews. I for one, thought it was brilliant! Hilarious, extremely hilarious during Mark Wahlberg's scenes, extremely quirky, philosophical, bright. I really enjoyed this.

Extremely disturbing.

But I have to say that I quite liked the movie as a whole. The scenes were shown in reverse so it really plays around with emotions seeing everything’s causal effects. I found it very clever how certain topics in the dialogue were connected to each other and that you recognise this backwards. Spoiler alert: I LOVE how at the end of the movie you understand the significance of the man’s smirk in the club and yet insignificance through the first scene of the fat man confiding in his friend. GAH!

Darren Aronofsky is turning out to be my favourite director. His movies always leave my eyes dry because I never can shut them. Aside from his short movies, the only other movie of his that I haven’t watched is the Wrestler. I would call him King of Psychological Thrillers based on Pi alone. But he has been generous enough to share more of that talent through his other movies. Pi was perfect as a full black and white movie that would keep your mind jumping from here to there yet stuck in his world of morbid visuals. Definitely one of my favourite movies.

* I've added Devotchka and Department of Eagles to Noosic. If you're a fan of Grizzly Bear, folkish, alternative music you'll probably like them as much as I do.
